How to get here:

Great Exuma has a large runway with regular service from Miami and Fort Lauderdale as well as regular service through Bahama Air. I strongly recommend direct flights from Florida, as layovers in Nassau can take all day.
There are several good hotels in George Town with good restaurants of local fare and 2 restaurants with fine dining taste and price to match. Ocean front homes are available for weekly rentals and can be arranged as well as car rentals.

George Town has one bank with a brand new ATM machine and a fairly well stocked grocery stores downtown.

Flight Service contacts- LYNX airlines fly's out of Ft. Lauderdale Friday thru Monday, check schedule though.(954) 772-9808 and in George Town it's (242) 345-0108

Reggie Express out of Ft. Lauderdale- every Tuesday and Thursday, also a freight plane. Call Regina for reservations at (954) 761-3131. If you do not mind small planes this is a great way to get to Exuma.

American Eagle- every day from Miami call 1-800-433-7300 in Exuma (242) 345-0124

Bahamas Air- twice a day every day from Nassau (242) 377-8504 or 377-8224 or Miami (305) 591-0606 in Exuma (242) 345-0035

Other places to fish:

Rum Cay - A very remote out Island, Home to Sumpner Point Marina. The Island averages about 50 people. Lying about 70 NE miles from Great Exuma where the fishing is amazing for all species, here the fishing is usually hot and the fish are big, due to very little fishing pressure. The marina is small and has a very good restaurant/bar with an Asian flare upon request for dinner. Rum Cay is on of the hottest marlin spots as well as giant Wahoo in the whole Bahamas. Accommodations can be made. This is one of my favorite places in the Bahamas.

Closest to George Town Great Exuma is Cape Santa Maria, Long Island some 25 miles to the east. On good weather days we troll directly there or follow a wall. A large underwater ridge extends out from the cape four miles where currents and upwelling swirl as the water comes up from 3,000 feet to 65 feet and back down. This is the southern entrance to Exuma Sound.

Cat Island - Hawks Nest Marina and Resort lies 45 miles to the north and if the north entrance to Exuma Sound. Here six miles from the marina is Tartar Bank, a pinnacle surrounded by very water. The marina is new and has a 4,500-foot usable runway for private aircraft and charter flights. Also a pool, restaurant and bar as well as rooms to rent. Diving here is excellent with amazing wall diving.
